These handmade pearl earrings are made with Biwa pearls and hang from Bali sterling silver ear wires. The ear wires are slightly oxidized. The pearls measure between 15 and 20mm (around ¾”) and the drop is approximately 1” from the bottom of the ear wire. Natural variances in freshwater pearls make each pair unique.
Biwa pearls are produced by placing a small square of mother of pearl into a freshwater clam. They come from lake Biwa, Japan. Biwa pearls require three years to produce and are irregular in shape with good color and luster.
