These shell earrings are handcrafted with fine silver and shaped into teardrops that accent blacklip shells.  The ear wires are sterling silver.  The drops measure approximately 1” in length and about ¾” wide at the widest point.

Fine silver is composed of approximately 99% pure silver.  Sterling silver is about 92.5% and combined with copper, which provides hardness to the silver.  Fine silver is much softer and easier to form.  It also allows these earrings to be much lighter than sterling silver.
